What type of player should the Sixers target in the upcoming NBA draft?
A great wing man
A dominant player in the paint
Defensive stud

With the NBA draft just nine days away, here's a roundup of mock drafts, along with projections for the Sixers at No. 15.

ESPN.com's Chad Ford has the Sixers taking Kentucky power forward Terrence Jones:

The Sixers might have a tough choice here between Jones, Sullinger and Arnett Moultrie. They need size, but also shooting. Jones may be the compromise. He measured out very well for a power forward at the combine, has an NBA body and proved to be a solid rebounder and shot-blocker in college. He has tremendous upside if he puts his heart into it.

SI.com's Sam Amick has the Sixers selecting Duke shooting guard Austin Rivers:

The Sixers are well-equipped in their backcourt with young Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner, but Rivers could fit in nicely with his ability to create his own shot and play both positions. The bigger [Terrence] Ross is the better shooter and athlete of the two, but he doesn't have Rivers' versatility.

Jeff Goodman of CBSSports.com also has them taking Rivers:

Doug Collins and the Sixers need scoring desperately. Doc's kid does just that.

Sean Deveney of The Sporting News thinks the Sixers will end up with UConn guard Jeremy Lamb:

The Sixers could look to move up, they could deal Andre Iguodala, they could deal out of the draft altogether. But they need shooters, and Lamb can shoot.

Draft Express has the Sixers going with Baylor power forward Perry Jones.

Hoops Hype projects Mississippi State power forward Arnett Moultrie to the Sixers:

One of the most athletic bigs in the country, Moultrie is a force on the glass and scores in a variety of ways. He can even step out and bury college three pointers. With great length and agility, Moultrie is an intriguing option for teams looking for size and athleticism. The two big complaints about him are his attitude and lack of strength. His intensity level is not always great, particularly on the defensive end. He also seems to be under 230 pounds, but appears to have the frame to add weight once he gets with NBA trainers. Moultrie is getting looks in the late lottery to mid first round.

Steve Alexander of Rotoworld.com has the Sixers taking North Carolina power forward John Henson:

Elton Brand is getting older and the Sixers could use a defensive banger to replace him. Henson should be just that. If they don’t go with Henson here, Terrence Jones would be another solid option.

Matt Moore of CBSSports.com projects Henson's teammate, Tyler Zeller, to the Sixers:

Doug Collins will love this guy, and he's a significant upgrade over Spencer Hawes, saving them the money on re-signing him.

Scott Howard-Cooper of NBA.com has them going with Ohio State power forward Jared Sullinger:

Sullinger drops, but maybe to an ideal place. The 76ers can use a power player, and the experienced Sullinger will be an interior presence.

Wow...if that happened, the Sixers could potentially get sg-Terrence Ross out of UW with the 10th pick, and at the 15th pick, they could get sf/pf-Royce White out of ISU. And, in the 2nd round, they could pick pg-Scott Machado out of Iona. Then in free agency, they could amnesty Brand and possibly sign sf/pf- Ersan Ilyasova. And, by letting Hawes and Meeks go, they could also be able to sign sg- Courtney Lee. Potential lineup: Holiday/Machado, Lee/Ross, Turner/Young, Ilyasova/White, and Vucevic/Allen. Good luck Thorn/DC/Aron/Harris!

Sixers have no chance of winning a championship in the next 50 years, bottom line.No one wants to come to Philly and play ball.

Guys, I'm just going to pull up a chair here, sit back and have a cold one and listen in to this hot stove talk!

The weather outside is going to be too hot to move around, and there's nothing but bad news going on elsewhere in the Philly sporting world! It's a lot cooler and comfortable in here!

The editors at Philly.com were smart to finally put out a "Sheil Kapadia type" thread out, as the past few days have been rehashing Lou Will's situation and snippets about the national scene...Philly wants to talk about PHILLY....

I would take Stevie Wonder,Ronnie Milsap and Ray Charles over Iggy.Iggy is not a boost to the team;he is a hindrance.

@bearsfriend, this sounds crazy but the Sixers are safer piking 8-15 then they are picking 2-5. This is one of those drafts where mistakes will be made and jewels found. That's why teams are looking to trade down.
NO has been shopping that pick becuase they have a sure thing at #1 and will likely get Gordon to re-sign. They'd like someone who could fit with that duo (ET?). They're also looking to dump salary...Okefor or Ariza.
Funny how J. Lamb and Sullinger are falling like rocks. They found bulging disc in Sullinger's back and teams are having Greg Oden flashbacks. It looks like Sullinger will be available when we pick. Please tell you Sixer buddies not to choose him.

If they draft him (over Royce White), I move to New Hampshire and join Gopherkidd....Rumors have Moultrie, who fits many Sixers' needs(physically, but not mentally),involved with thte Pistons at 9...It seems like more and more, the agents are taking over this process...With Leonard skyrocketing, I see both Henson and Zeller falling close to the Sixers range...I would expect DC to get a veteran big, so I'm still hoping for Ross....Expect the Bulls and Nets to do something big Draft Night....

LOL, Sullinger would cause you to move to a place with no cable, no indoor plumbing and restaurants that serve muskrat?

Article & post workout video interview of Terrence Ross. Interesting he mentioned playing with Iggy, Holiday and Hawes when 1 0r 2 of them may not be here.

He's friends with Hawes, and worked out with him during the lockout...He came off VERY impressive, knowing the Sixers' needs prior to meeting with the team...Whether he was prepped for it or not, that's what a job interview should be like, as well as draining dagger after dagger from the arc.

Ross knows Hawes who's a Wasghington alum and he knows Holiday because he played with Holiday's brother Justin at Washington. when Ross was a freshman he played behind Justin Holiday who was a senior.

I would prefer to trade the 15th pick probably in some kind of package and bring in help that can improve our top 7 rotation NOW. I'm tired of waiting for young players to develop!!!

mtairy1: thought you were on your way to the Phillies game? Don't worry, the fans are much nicer at the park then online. From my perspective, the bottom line is shooting, immediate not down the road help; I tried to be upbeat about the Sixers during the playoffs, but you could find better shooters at Tustin playground. Draft Rose in the first round and bigs in the second round, trade for a veteran big and sign a free agent veteran point guard for off the bench. GET A SHOOTER, someone who can put what we call a basketball in what we call a basket from more than 20 feet with some consistency.

Bear: not sure we need Rhodes Scholars; if they can ball, I don't care if they ever speak.

If the guy has length and talent like JaVale McGee, then I'd take a chance...but any other position, no way...It's just not about speaking. It's about who will be a professional, and do the things one needs to be a really good professional...I'm looking at the way I think DC would do so..Does he seem like a guy that enjoys the baggage?..
