The Sixers acquired center Hasheem Thabeet and cash from the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday for a protected 2015 second-round pick and a trade exception.

ESPN.com reported that the Sixers would waive Thabeet, and an NBA source confirmed that was expected to happen. Thabeet has a $1.25 million nonguaranteed contract.

The source also said the second-round pick is so heavily protected that the Sixers will likely never have to surrender it. Essentially, Oklahoma City paid the Sixers for the trade exception. The Thunder have one year to use the trade exception.

Training camp news

In response to a report that the Sixers would hold training camp at Richard Stockton College in Galloway, N.J., a team spokesman said: "It is a site we are exploring, but nothing has been made official at this time."
