Recapping Thursday’s games for the Phillies’ minor-league affiliates.

Lehigh Valley 6, Norfolk 1: 2B Scott Kingery had two more hits and RHP Jose Taveras pitched six shutout innings as the IronPigs picked up a much-needed victory.

Kingery went 2-for-5, scored twice and extended his hitting streak to 15 games. A 2015 second-round pick, Kingery has hit safely in 31 of his last 32 games and is hitting an even .300 since being promoted to AAA in late June.

Taveras gave up just one hit and two walks in his six innings of work. In four starts at AAA, he’s 2-1 with a 1.17 ERA.

SS J.P. Crawford (.239) went 2-for-4, but RF Dylan Cozens was 0-for-5 with three strikeouts. He’s 1-for-17 over his last five games with eight Ks.

The IronPigs (70-54) entered the game having lost 11 of 13 and they had gone 24 consecutive innings against Norfolk without scoring a run. The victory, coupled with a Rochester loss, pulled Lehigh Valley to within one game of Rochester for the IL wild-card.

The ‘Pigs start a three-game series at Charlotte on Friday before hosting Syracuse for four beginning on Monday. RHP Jake Thompson (5-12 ,5.13) is slated to start Friday for Lehigh Valley.

Tomscha, a 17th-round pick in 2014, has an 11-game hitting streak and multiple hits in eight of those games. He was hitting .240 on Aug. 6. He’s now at .337. Impressive.
Reading (63-59) starts a six-game road trip Friday night in Hartford. RHP Jacob Waguespack (1-0, 4.50) will start for the Phils.
