Nathan MacKinnon's first NHL point is a doozy

The Colorado Avalanche added yet another talented young forward to their collection when they used the No. 1 overall pick in the draft on Nathan MacKinnon. He joined a young core that already included Gabriel Landeskog, Matt Duchene, and Ryan O'Reilly, which should at least give Avalanche fans some hope as the 2013-14 season begins.

MacKinnon made his NHL debut on Wednesday night against the Anaheim Ducks and was quite involved in the action. After a brief altercation with Ducks defenseman Ben Lovejoy in front of the net, MacKinnon helped the Avalanche build on their lead when he recorded his first NHL point to set up Jamie McGinn late in the second period.

He made it look easy, as if he was already a seasoned veteran.
