J.R. Smith on Paul Pierce: 'His words have consequences'
Smith told Ian Begley of ESPN New York that Pierce "doesn't really know what New York is all about ... Just know that his words have consequences and he's going to have to pay for them."
Pierce has made several comments this offseason since he was traded to the Nets, including saying "let's start the beef right now."
J.R. Smith's comments are on a different, more hostile level. But it's J.R. Smith: the man who was rumored to be driving a goshdarn tank earlier this summer, whose quality of play can easily be traced to the time he last tweeted the night (or early morning) before a game and the same guy who briefly requested be called Earl.
All of these pieces of trash talk are dumb. I understand reporters constantly ask these Knicks players during the offseason about the trash talk because they're NBA writers in August, but this is all just so dumb.
And, if a story is dumb, you can bet J.R. Smith will see to it his name is attached to it.
