Victor Cruz injury: Giants star expected to play Week 1
Cruz suffered a bruised heal during New York's second preseason game. He sat out the third preseason game but said he is feeling better and is on track to return for the regular season.
"Feeling good," Cruz said via Sports Illustrated. "It's been better, feels a lot better, a lot of the swelling has gone down. Obviously, looking forward to better days coming."
Although the team is taking a cautious approach to his recovery and working him back into the mix slowly, Cruz said he would like to get some practice in before the game, possibly as soon as Monday if he's cleared by doctors, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.
Getting Cruz back will be a nice boost for the Giants. The 26-year-old is coming off his second straight season with more than 1,000 receiving yards. He caught 86 passes last season for 1,092 yards. The Giants signed Cruz to a six-year $45.8 million extension this offseason.
