Winter Olympic hockey 2014: Canada has 14 roster spots available
Hockey Canada is scheduled to begin Olympic orientation camp this Sunday, and according to CEO Bob Nicholson, 11 players are already locks to make the team. With Team Canada planning to bring 25 players to the 2014 games in Sochi, that means 14 players still have a chance to make the team.
While Hockey Canada will be holding camp this week, the meeting is more about information dissemination than evaluation as players won't be skating. No, the final roster spots will be determined in the coming months through NHL games, via Sportsnet:
Added Nicholson: "Who will make the team is who's playing well in November and December. Stevie [Yzerman] will tell you that."
Hockey Canada invited 47 players to the camp, which consists of five goaltenders, 17 defenseman and 25 forwards.
