Giovani Bernard builds on fantasy value against Titans

Cincinnati decided to rest BenJarvus Green-Ellis in its second preseason game of the year, giving rookie Giovani Bernard the start with the first-team offense. Bernard rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. He also added a reception for 22 yards.

Dan Herron was also impressive on the ground, rushing for 81 yards and a score on nine carries. He broke off a 40-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

Fantasy impact: As a team, the Bengals averaged 6.2 yards per carry. Bernard had runs of 9, 9 and 7 yards before going for 22 yards on a short pass. He didn't help his cause with 28 yards on 10 carries against the Falcons, but his second showing was far more impressive.

Green-Ellis is still locked in as the starter in Cincy. Bernard is more explosive, though, and provides a better threat in the receiving game. Two two could end up splitting time, and Bernard will be a decent option in PPR leagues.
