Carlos Beltran injury: Cardinals OF leaves game with foot contusion
Beltran appeared to suffer the injury when he fouled a pitch off his foot during an at-bat in the fifth. The outfielder ended up striking out, and did not return to the field. Matt Adams replaced Beltran, shifting Allen Craig from first base to right field.
X-rays on Beltran's foot came back negative, reports David Wilhelm of the Belleville News-Democrat. St. Louis listed the outfielder as day-to-day.
St. Louis entered Sunday on a four-game losing streak, sitting four games behind the Pittsburgh Pirates for first place in the NL Central.
