Lorenzo Cain: Royals CF placed on DL with strained oblique
Cain injured his oblique muscle Friday during batting practice. Royals manager Ned Yost talked about Cain's injury, telling Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star:
"On his first swing, he said he felt a ‘little something. Just a little discomfort. He took one swing, felt it; took another swing, it got worse; his third swing, he swung and missed and walked out of the cage."
The outfielder showed off his defensive prowess on Aug. 1, robbing Trevor Plouffe of a two-run homer:
The Royals acquired Justin Maxwell before the non-waiver trade deadline, and he will likely see increased playing time as the only right-handed hitting outfielder currently on the 25-man roster. Jarrod Dyson will also see more playing time in centerfield.
