Rex Ryan 'confident' Santonio Holmes will be ready for Week 1
Santonio Holmes' recovery from a Lisfranc fracture has been a long and slow process, but the Jets' No. 1 receiver could still return for the start of the season. New York head coach Rex Ryan said he was "confident" Holmes would be active for the season opener, according to Seth Walder of the New York Daily News.
"I'm confident that Santonio will be ready to go," Ryan said, via Walder. "He's in great shape. He's doing everything but (being) out there playing. He's running. He's training."
During an appearance on ESPN's NFL Insiders, Adam Schefter reported the "feeling" is Holmes would return closer to the start of the regular season, rather than missing four games, according to Rotoworld. The latest reports come a day after the New York Post reported Holmes told friends he expects to miss at least the first four games of the regular season.
