Torii Hunter injury: Tigers OF leaves game with sore achilles
Hunter hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning, his 10th on the year, but left in the eighth with an issue in his left leg. He's considered day-to-day with the injury. Don Kelly moved out to right to make up for Hunter's departure, with Ramon Santiago switching from second base to third and Hernan Perez entering the game and playing second base. Hunter is listed as day-to-day.
The 38-year-old has been remarkably dependable for the AL Central-leading Tigers, one of four everyday starters on the team hitting over .300. In fact, Jim Leyland had just called Hunter one of the toughest players he'd ever coached. After hitting just .262 two years ago, he was up to .313 last year, and is batting .309 with 47 RBI on the season, earning his fifth All-Star Game appearance and first since 2010.
