Trae Golden will transfer to Georgia Tech
Golden, a Georgia native, told Goodman his father is "severely ill," which played into his decision to take his game to the Yellow Jackets.
"I appreciate everything that Coach (Cuonzo) Martin and Tennessee did for me. I feel it's the best move for me to go home to Atlanta so I can be close to my family and help take care of my father."
The Yellow Jackets, who finished 16-15 last season, will return their top four scorers -- and five of their top six -- in 2013-14. Golden is trying to get a waiver from the NCAA so that he can be a part of that mix of players rather than being forced to sit out a year.
