Cardinals promote minor league veteran Brock Peterson
Peterson, 29, will finally live out his dream after spending 11 seasons in the minor leagues. This season has been Peterson's best as a professional. He is hitting .306/.382/.564 with 22 home runs in 390 plate appearances for Triple-A Memphis, already surpassing his previous single-season high in
Peterson hit 21 homers in High-A in 2006, four years after the Minnesota Twins selected him with their 49th-round pick in the 2002 draft. Five years later, Peterson found himself playing independent ball with Bridgeport of the Atlantic League. He put up solid numbers there in 2011 and 2012 before being picked up by the Cardinals late last season and hit five home runs in just 21 games for Memphis and continued the momentum into this season.
