5 New Faces
Along with first-round pick Jeremy Maclin, here are five other new Eagles to keep your eyes on at Lehigh: ELLIS HOBBS
Along with first-round pick Jeremy Maclin, here are five other new Eagles to keep your eyes on at Lehigh:
ELLIS HOBBS
Position: Cornerback
Acquired: Trade, from New England
Breakdown: The cornerback rotation will be watched closely, given Sheldon Brown's displeasure with his contract. Brown skipped the voluntary OTAs, which could factor into the team's decision whether to start Brown or Hobbs opposite Asante Samuel. With Joselio Hanson seemingly set as the third corner, where does Hobbs stand if Brown is the starter?
CORNELIUS INGRAM
Position: Tight end
Acquired: Draft, fifth round
Breakdown: Slipped in the draft because a torn ACL cost him his final season at Florida, but he has reported no setbacks in his summer workouts. Considered by some to be the steal of the draft, he drew regular oohs and aahs at the minicamps with his athleticism and 4.6 speed.
LeSEAN McCOY
Position: Running back
Acquired: Draft, second round
Breakdown: With Brian Westbrook expected to miss much of training camp, McCoy will receive more practice reps and likely be asked to do more in the preseason. In minicamps, he showed quickness and effortless pass-catching ability, running routes as naturally as a wide receiver.
JASON PETERS
Position: Left tackle
Acquired: Trade, from Buffalo
Breakdown: Many view Peters' acquisition among the most significant moves in the league this offseason. The two-time Pro Bowler was brought in to replace Tra Thomas and protect Donovan McNabb's blind side. He will need to change his technique but is expected to thrive on the revamped line.
LEONARD WEAVER
Position: Fullback
Acquired: Free agent
Breakdown: With Seattle, he developed into an elite fullback - something the Eagles have not had in quite some time - and was a Pro Bowl alternate last season. Will be interesting to see if the fullback gets an increased role this season.
