Minor League Report: Scott Kingery extends hitting streak; Jake Thompson struggles

Quick run through Friday's minor-league results for the Phillies farm system, and is there anything worse than soggy pork roll?

INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE (AAA)

Charlotte 8, Lehigh Valley 3: RHP Jake Thompson gave up six earned runs, including five in the second inning to fall to 5-13.
Thompson allowed seven hits, two homers, and four walks as Lehigh Valley lost for the 12th time in its last 15 games.

2B Scott Kingery had two more hits, including a double, to extend his hitting streak to 16 games. CF Carlos Tocci, making his first start at Triple-A, singled twice and SS J.P. Crawford (.241) had two doubles.

EASTERN LEAGUE (AA)

Reading at Hartford (susp.): The visiting Fightins were trailing 1-0 when play was halted after the top of the fourth. The teams will resume play at 3:30 on Saturday ahead of the day's regularly-scheduled game.

FLORIDA STATE LEAGUE (A)

Charlotte 3, Clearwater 2: RHP Sixto Sanchez gave up two runs in six innings, but did not fare in the decision.

Sanchez struck out six and walked none. Charlotte won the game with three consecutive singles in the bottom of the ninth after Clearwater had tied it in the top.
2B Jose Antequera and 3B Emmanuel Marrero had the ninth-inning ribbies for the Threshers. Marrero tied it with a bunt single which scored RF Carlos Duran.

SOUTH ATLANTIC LEAGUE (A)

Delmarva at Lakewood (ppd.): Bad enough the game was rained out, but it was Pork Roll night at FirstEnergy Stadium. The game will be made up Saturday afternoon, but the rescheduling of Pork Roll is TBA.

NEW YORK-PENN LEAGUE (A)

Auburn 11, Williamsport 3: LHP Will Stewart (4-2, 4.14) was pulled after giving up seven runs — five earned — in just two-thirds of an inning.

GULF COAST LEAGUE (Rookie)

Yankees East 6, Phillies 1: 3B Jack Zoellner went 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and the lone RBI for the Phils.
