Phillies Minor League Report: Tyler Viza has rough outing in BlueClaws loss

Here's how the Phillies' minor-league teams fared on Tuesday, July 14:

Lehigh Valley IronPigs (40-51) – Triple A

The IronPigs are off until Thursday because of the Triple-A All-Star Game, scheduled for Wednesday night in Omaha, Neb. When they return to action, it will be in Rochester, N.Y. for a four-game set against the Rochester Red Wings.

Reading Fightin Phils (48-42) – Double-A

The Fightin Phils are also off until Thursday because of an all-star game. For Reading, it is the Eastern League All-Star game Wednesday in Portland, Maine. When the Fightin Phils return to action Thursday, they will host the New Britain Rock Cats for a four-game series.

Clearwater Threshers (51-38) – Class A-Advanced

The Threshers enjoyed a day off Tuesday but will be back on the field at 7 p.m. Wednesday when they open a four-game series against the Palm Beach Cardinals at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla.

Matt Imhof (3-3, 3.93 ERA) is scheduled to start for Clearwater.

Lakewood BlueClaws (43-44) – Class A

A rough outing from starting pitcher Tyler Viza contributed to the BlueClaws dropping a crucial game against the Kannapolis Intimidators, 8-2, at CMC-NorthEast Stadium in Kannapolis, N.C.

The BlueClaws are locked in a three-way tie for second place in the South Atlantic League's North Division with the Intimidators and the Delmarva Shorebirds. All three teams sit at 10-9 in the second half.

The Intimidators lit up Viza for five runs on eight hits in five innings. Viza (4-5) suffered the loss.

The BlueClaws posted a rather pedestrian outing at the plate, recording only seven hits. The lone highlight was a solo home run from Jiandido Tromp during the second inning.

The BlueClaws will hope to bounce back and keep pace in the divisional race against the Intimidators at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday. Ranfi Casimiro (4-5, 3.36 ERA) is slated to start for Lakewood.

Williamsport Crosscutters (17-6) – Class A-Short Season

The Crosscutters received a day off, but will be back in action at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday when they open a four-game series against the Batavia Muckdogs at Dwyer Stadium in Batavia, N.Y.

Alejandro Arteaga (3-0, 1.17 ERA) will pitch for Williamsport.
