Here's how the Phillies' minor-league teams fared on Wednesday, Aug. 26:

Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A

Lehigh Valley scored the first two runs but could not hang on in a 4-2 loss to Buffalo.

Chase d'Arnaud and Gabriel Lino drove home runs in the bottom of the second inning, but that was all the offense the IronPigs could muster. They did have nine hits, but Buffalo's pitching staff scattered them and stranded nine runners on base.

A good start from Anthony Vasquez was wasted by a lack of run support. He went 6 2/3 innings and gave up three runs, just two earned. He dropped to 7-7 this season.

Lehigh travels to Scranton Wilkes/Barre on Thursday for a doubleheader starting at 5:35 p.m.

Reading Fightin Phils – Double-A

The Fightin Phils just love to make games overly dramatic. After Destin Hood's grand slam put Reading up big in the seventh inning, the Fightin Phils gave up four runs in the ninth, leading to extra innings. Angelo Mora and KC Serna drew bases-loaded walks in the 10th to give Reading an 8-6 win over Altoona.

Jake Thompson was in line for the win after giving up just one run in six innings. That all melted away when Stephen Shackelford gave up four earned runs in just a third of an inning. He gave up five hits and retired just one batter.

Hood was the best Fightin Phil at the plate. He was 2-for-4 with a triple and five RBI. Brock Stassi knocked in the other Reading run.

Reading returns home to play Bowie at 7:05 p.m. Thursday.

Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced

The Threshers did not play Wednesday. Clearwater will be back in action at 6:35 p.m. Thursday at Brevard County.

Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A

The BlueClaws had just enough offense to get past the Hagerstown Suns, 7-6, at FirstEnergy Park.

Elniery Garcia gave up six runs (four earned) in five innings and left the game with a no-decision. Jason Zgardowski  pitched a scoreless inning and earned his third victory. Joey DeNato picked up his 10th save.

Kyle Martin went 1-for-4 with a double and knocked in three runs. Damek Tomscha had a homer run, double and two RBI.

Lakewood will return to action Thursday at 7:05 p.m. at home vs. Hagerstown.

Williamsport Crosscutters – Short-Season A

The Crosscutters defeated the State College Spikes, 8-4, at Susquehanna Bank Park. Jose Taveras pitched six innings and allowed three runs on five hits. Taveras struck out five and won his seventh.

Jose Pujols, Brendon Hayden and Carlos Duran each knocked in two runs for Williamsport.

The Crosscutters will be back in action at 7:05 p.m. Thursday at Batavia.
