Phillies Minor League Report: Aaron Nola delivers solid start for IronPigs

Here's how the Phillies' minor league teams fared on Friday, July 10:

Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A

The IronPigs knocked off the Pawtucket Red Sox, 4-2, Friday at McCoy Stadium.

Aaron Nola delivered a strong outing for Lehigh Valley. He allowed two runs on seven hits in six innings of work. Nola struck out six batters in the no decision.

Reliever Juan Gutierrez picked up his third win of the season.

Third baseman Russ Canzler went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs.

Right fielder Aaron Altherr also picked up two hits for the IronPigs.

Lehigh Valley is back in action Saturday at 6:05 p.m.

Reading Fightin Phils – Double-A

The Fightin Phils fell, 3-2, to the Akron RubberDucks on Friday at Canal Park.

Colton Murray was saddled with the loss after he allowed one run on four hits in 2 ⅓ innings of relief.

Andrew Knapp and Cam Perkins each knocked in a run for the Fightin Phils.

Reading is back in action Saturday at 5:05 p.m.

Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced

The Threshers defeated the Fort Myers Miracle, 3-0, Friday at CenturyLink Sports Complex.

David Whitehead pitched eight shutout innings and earned his sixth win of the season.

Aaron Brown, Willians Astudillo and Chace Numata each drove in a run for the Threshers.

Clearwater is back in action Saturday at 6:05 p.m.

Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A

The BlueClaws fell to the Hickory Crawdads, 7-3, Friday at FirstEnergy Park.

Elniery Garcia gave up four runs on eight hits in six innings of work. Garcia lost his seventh game of the season.

Right fielder Herlis Rodriguez went 2-for-5 win an RBI.

Lakewood is back in action Saturday at 7:05 p.m.

Williamsport Crosscutters – Short-Season A

The Crosscutters won both of their games with the Tri-City Valleycats on Friday. Williamsport took Game 1, 1-0, and Game 2, 3-2.

Alejandro Arteaga struck out five batters in six innings of work in Game 1.

Catcher Gregori Rivero went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Game 1.

Jose Taveras was the Game 2 winner. Taveras pitched five innings and struck out four batters.

Catcher Austin Bossart went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Game 2.

The Crosscutters are back in action Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
