WATCH: Phillies prospect J.P. Crawford hits an inside-the-park grand slam
The IronPigs shortstop nearly cleared the fence, but motored around the bases and beat the tag to complete an unusual feat.
J.P. Crawford, the Phillies' top shortstop prospect, continued to turn his season around Wednesday with an inside-the-park grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning for the triple-A IronPigs against the visiting Gwinnett Braves.
Crawford's blast gave the IronPigs a 5-1 lead heading into the sixth inning.
Since a below-.200 start at Lehigh Valley, Crawford has rebounded, batting .233 with 55 walks ahead of Wednesday's game.
Crawford nearly cleared the fence, then needed a deceptive slide to beat the tag at the plate.
