I've followed his path in the minors for a little while, his defense is ready for the bigs, and has been for a long time. His bat has improved a little more with each stop. He's being groomed at Reading to be a leadoff hitter, failing that he'll be a talented 8th whole guy who could turn the lineup over.

Being the top prospect in the phillies organization is like saying you're the head idiot. A guy who can't hit his weight IS NOT a top prospect!!!!

Galvis has made a jump offensively and has show a little pop, but he is not ready for the bigs...not yet. Would have liked to hear a little more fire from him wanting to become a Phillie..His next jump to AAA will tell us if he's a legitimate starting shortstop or a future utility man.

I live in Reading and I have seen him play a number of times and follow the Reading Phils fairly closely. He is slumpling a little defensively this year, but he can play big league defense now. His bat is better this year but he is still only hitting around .260. His speed is above average, but he seems to get caught stealing a lot. If he starts next year for the big club, I am guessing you will be looking at a .220 to .250 batting average, 3 to 5 HRs and maybe 15 steals.

He needs to grow up or the Phillies are going to be in some trouble soon. I can't see Rollins signing here next year unless he gives them a hometown discount. And the FA SS market is quite slim. We'll see about Galvis, but I'm not holding my breath.

J Roll will get a two year extension at his present salary. Then Glavis will be ready.

If any of you think JRoll is signing for less than 3 years and 30 million you are smoking crack. Shortstop is the most important defensive position on a team that is built around pitching. JRoll can still field it with anyone. Halladay,Lee, Hamels. Unless they replace JRoll with Jose Reyes, JRoll will be back and he will cost a lot of money. Galvis is a slick field, weak armed shortstop who may one day be an average starting shortstop in the majors. He is the same age as JRoll when JRoll came up. Reuben is not stupid.
