Victorino: 'I will lead the league in triples'
Casey Musarra
With Opening Day just around the corner, media and fans across the country have been busy making their predictions for the 2012 baseball season. In the latest MLB Fan Cave video (watch it below), some of baseball's biggest stars have made their own prognostications.
Among the players in the video is Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino, who proclaims that he’ll lead the league in triples. Charlie Manuel backs up the Flyin' Hawaiian with an affirmation of "Yeah, you will.”
It wouldn’t be the first time that the Flyin' Hawaiian records the most triples in a season. Last year he tied former Met and current Marlin Jose Reyes for the National League and major league lead with a career-high 16. In 2009, Victorino also led the NL and MLB with 13 triples.
Since 2007, Victorino has increased his number of triples in all but one season, and he has hit 10 or more in each of the past three seasons.
I would have rather heard I will increase my on base % by being more selective at the plate......... Earl J
Why not just go out play the best you can?GOD forbid you could break both legs (ask RYAN). Don't be so cocky.Try bunting the runner to second.Take a walk.Hit behind the runner. Those things are better than a triple with two outs and being stranded on third. tobyjoe
I'm pretty sure Jose Reyes will lead the league in triples. kilo_005
Guess he has been hangin' out with Vince Young lately and adopted his "dream team" prediction mentality. Stop making predictions and just let your performance be the message. kelprod2
Nah, Vic has a real good chance of doing it...if he stays healthy, unlike most of the rest of the team. Hot dog boy will be DL'd by Memorial Day. PhillySubsMac
I'd rather him lead the league in hitting the cut off man and not letting the winning run of the series vs the Cards score on an errant throw. Will never live that down regardless of how many triples he hits. Mo Biggsley
Comment removed.
Mark Reynolds will lead in strikeouts warbiscuit
Pujols will lead AL in hitting (notwithstanding the bias against the NL, it actually has the better pitching, and like Adrian Gonzalez last yr, Pujuls and Fielder will have better stats in the AL) warbiscuit
Triples and the most popups right behind. eaglesman1
