dudeskins reminds me of that Norway nut -- he believes that anyone who disagrees with him is to be hated and that, since he must be correct and it is unfathomable that among millons of Phils fans only 1 could concevably be critical of his beloved Amaro and Manuel, ergo, anyone of these blogs criticizing Phillies must be one and the same person -- I'd say lock this looney up before he goes a-hunting warbiscuit
bright spot is that Phils won World Series in 2008 and most fans, ignorant of Phils golden age of 1975 to 1983 and relying on media propoganda about "loser franchise" and growing up in awful decade of 90s, are satisifed with scraps of winning a Series once every 28 years, winning some divisions titles and getting 2 elite pitchers willing to play for Phils for only $20- 25 mil. warbiscuit
Lets not go crazy over the Nationals. Their best hitter from last year is out until late June, Espinosa is a 220 hitter, they have Wertless on pace to hit 0 hrs and drive in 66 hitting 5th, the worst outfield in baseball, an injury prone ace, and they lost their closer (note to idiot Amaro, 50 million on a closer? You are a complete moron). Phils still have the best staff in baseball, and Howard will be back to defuse the power outage. lazyboy
The biggest bright spot this season is when the stadium lights turn on for the Phillies' night games. zen

We should definately want Victorino. Gold glove defense more power than most realize. Capable of hitting 290-300... How many Phills try to take low outside pitch the other way? Don w
By golly you folks have solved all the Phillies problems. Just a question or two . Who is gong to be traded to accomplish these prodigious feats ?
Will the money saved with Utley's salary help a minor league bust to field better ? You still are in denial. The Phillies need practically a new infield, and a left fielder. Mayberry isn't cutting it.
Howard and Utley are likely finished, or near the end of the road.
You can't get quality for damaged goods. Settle back and relax.
You'll have to wait until the farm system is built up again. Besides , the new format doesn't support winners, only losers. Anyone has a chance even with a second place team.

Ruben's biggest mistake was wishful thinking on the injuries. He actually said that Howard would be back by May, maybe sooner, and that Chase was expected to be healthy and ready to start the season. Rube never planned for the possibility that he would lose Chase and Howard for an extended period. He would have signed a less costly closer, signed Cuddyer instead, and never have traded Wilson Valdez. Maybe he was misled by Utley, or had info witheld. He has put Charlie in a position where he has to actually manage, when he is known to be much stronger in the clubhouse than the dugout. Hence, the decision to let Thome hit off a lefty last night, with Polanco available. (and Mayberry who kills lefties and drives the ball) Polanco would have stayed in for a double switch and been at third, Wigginton doesn't make the error in the 11th, it likely doesn't even get to the 11th, because Lee was "The Truth" last night. Thome should not be our #1 pinch hitter, like Dobbs was. Plus, he always sucks in April, going back 2 decades. I have defended Ruben, but he screwed up this offseason, just because he deluded himself. laser5
Just sign Jorge Soler when he becomes a FA, then trade Domo Brown to the Rangers for 3rd basemen Mike Olt. Romus
I understand the frustration. I do. But someone please tell me why Amaro is at fault here. he raised the payroll by 70 million over 3 years. We ALL (emphasis)wanted to keep the 2008 core together. He did that. He wasn't responsible for Lidge falling apart in 2009. He replaced Burrell with Ibanez. He didn't offer Werth a gazzillion dollars to stay (I agreed). He brought in Halladay, Lee, Pence and Papelbon. So Utley ... two years in a row ... shows up and says his knees hurt ??? And it's Amaro's fault? I just disagree.
PS ... we proved last year that you can't win a World Series on paper. And that the most regular season wins guarantee you nothing. Just get into the playoffs hot and healthy and play well. Go Flyers. zubzub- Don't put me in with ALL. I remember what happened when they tried to lock up the 1993 core in their early 30s. We're still waiting for Daulton and Dystra to get healthy. They paid those guys $50 million to rehab in 1990s money. They should have traded Utley after 2009 when his stock with a good World Series but he was in a steep decline and looking injury prone. They shouldn't have extended Howard. They should have let his contract end and resigned him for 2 years and an option if they wanted to keep him. Nobody thought he would be contributing at age 35 and he probably won't be. They should have looked to get rid of Rollins after 2010- his third straight year of declining play. You can't pay these guys All-Star bucks when they aren't All-Stars anymore and expect to compete. You gotta do like Boston did with Nomar and Manny. A guy in his thirties starts to slip and piles up the injuries, give him a gold watch and move on.

If nothing else, Amaro and Manuel are now being exposed as the incompetent dolts they are. Just compare how Amaro has destroyed a once, proud championship team with an endless farm of prospects in a mere 4 years where as conversely, Frank Wren has built a virtual potential dynasty with the Braves and Rizzo has literally bought a shake & bake championship team for Washington over the winter meetings with one checkbook. I rest my case, Phillies management must be replaced and optimally, the ownership should be forced to auction the team off to the highest bidder, maybe Charles Barkely will be interested:-) daystrum- Warbiscuit, I mean daystrum , I mean zwarte piet, I mean jt06, well what do I mean, Oh, I remember, Frank Wren ,of the I did absolutely nothing in the off season Braves and Shake and Bake Rizzo who gave out the worst contract in BB ,126 mill, to Jayson Werth. Go away guy, guys ,biscuit, whoever.
DUDESKINS
Halladay, Lee, and Hamels. The rest of the team is a joke. When Halladay and Co. start losing games because of these inept players changes will be made or Hamels will be in LA next year. Last place is where they belong. eaglesman1
Remember a few years back when Rollins accused Phillies fans of being "front runners"? He was right... GopherBaroque
This team is not making the playoffs at this point. When Howard comes back and if Utley comes back, they may already be in too deep of a hole. PEFS
the Nationals may be in first right now, but I wouldn't go as far as consider them one of the greats yet. I mean wow they beat teams like the Astros, Reds and Cubs. Lets wait until they have to head out west and play the better NL East teams. wolfburn- If you can recall way back to 2011, you would know you don't need to beat good teams to run away with the NL East. The Phillies played 25 games against eventual playoff teams and finished 12-13 in them, but ran away with the NL East. You just have to take care of business against the weaker teams. I don't think the Phillies played a playoff team yet-- maybe Miami-- yet they are still 5-7, so you can't dog the Nats for winning games.
jtj06 - Astros, THE worst, Reds worst hitting so far in all of BB, nad the Cubs who would be the worst if it wasn't for the Stros, add to that the start the year with their longest home stand of the year. They lost their closer and their pitching is unproven to say the least. They say that Strasburg will be shut down after 160 innings which happens in August. On paper and on the field are two different things and with 12 down and 150 to play it is a little early to jump on the Bandwagon. The best thing they have going is Lidge and Werth because they know how to do it but the worst thing they have is Werth and Lidge. Werth has been the catalyst so far and Lidge is filling in for Storen. Lidge holding up and Werth staying hot probably not realistic.

Ryan Howard is already in the midst of a 2 month setback, and he was expected to play in June or July, BEFORE the setback. There's a good chance Howard won't play at all in 2012. LMparent
Time to bring Possy and Brown up and start them. We need hitters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! joeynick
MichaelMore...You beat me to it phillyceltic
Has anyone else noticed that while the pitcher is letting go of the ball...he is winding up (his bat is going backward) ? This is pathetic. I notice, but no one on the team does. Is that possible if they weren't completely pathetic? I give up. I am so tired of this BS it's a crime. justacarpenter- Mayberry. ....SORRY!!
justacarpenter - Chollie said he and GG are talking to him every day. That's probably a trick Charlie learned in Japan.

Anyone with half a brain would know you don't click the submit tab more than once. MichaelMore
Anyone with half a baseball brain can look at this lineup and see a solid array of awful. Pitching aside, Freddy Galvis is the only bright side and he's not more than 100 watts. Way to go Reuben Amoron. gentian

Cardinals were something like 10 games out of the wild card spot on September 1st and yet still won the World Series and all you knuckleheads are panicking, the season is a couple weeks old and there are over 140 games left to play, give me a break. MichaelMore
frustration will soon turn to Apathy ..let's hope Citibank fans start to stay home and the days of the 989th straight sellout are over......If you don't like it don't watch and don't come.....maybe the GM will get the message klew
They won't win with this lineup. Why are you putting silly videos like this on the site? As for the Nationals, we'll see in the first series with the Phillies. It may not be pretty. jerseyshorefan
I don't have a good reason, JT, just hoping I guess. If he doesn't return we'll have an additional 15-20 Million to sign someone else or upgrade the bullpen. But pitching in't the problem anyway. zubzub- ZUB, Don't be intimidated by someone questioning you, your opinion is just as important as theirs. The Phillies will try to resign Cole if they can and I'm am just guessing the reason you want him back and are hopeful is because you are a fan and not a troll or flamer. When Cole resigns they will be back on here saying we payed him too much or gave him too many years or he is dumb for signing back with a declining team etc. Zub you have to learn there are nasty hateful people on here with no purpose than to upset Philly fans and draw attention to themselves. The biggest giveaway is they post the same point over and over, they are always negative and they attack any positive opinion. Keep the faith, baby keep the faith. Go Phils.

Hamels is gone zubzub. There is no doubt about it. He'll get more money to go to a better team- Boston, Washington, LA, or New York. Why would he stay? jtj06
The bright spot for the future is Galvis, hopefully Brown or Mayberry, Sebastian Valle, Gillies or James, and the young pitchers. In addition we will save 20 million next year when Blanton, Polanco and Contreras leave. And then we will save 15 million when Chase leaves the following year. That will allow us to resign Hamels, Victorino (if we want) Pence, and a third baseman as well. zubzub
blow the whole team up, sell the stadium, move out of town! palmyra21
Bright Spot? Freddy seems to hit into a DP everygame. Love his defense but i dont see him hitting better than .230 Joey0210
There are no bright spots. billtfla
The bright spot in all this is that the management and coaching of this team is being exposed for the sorry excuses that they are. Time for a change both on the field, in the dugout and in the front office. Phil Lee
David - Chase called, he wants his soul patch back! Ironic timing.. main liner- Ruben has FAILED shawnmac
These guys are always the last ones to leave the station. The Nationals put 7 guys out there every day who have more power than Chase Utley and they have great pitching. They are like the 2007-08 Phillies, but with pitching. With their pitchers, the Nats won't have any long losing streaks, so if the Phillies don't get with it, they'll be left in the dust in the NL east. jtj06
