CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Phillies' offense took five innings to get their first hit off Jon Lester on Monday, but battered him in the sixth in a 4-1 defeat of the Red Sox at Bright House Field.

Roy Halladay pitched strongly into the eighth inning, surrendering one run on five hits. He walked three and struck out six in his 98-pitch outing. The run scored when Jed Lowrie led off the fifth with a double, moved up on a ground ball and scored on a sacrifice fly.

The Phils jumped ahead in the third with a small-ball run, when Brian Schneider walked, moved up two bases on two bunts and scored on Michael Martinez's sacrifice fly.

Their first hit came from Halladay with a single into right field in the fifth, but in the sixth the Phils used four hits and two walks for a three-run inning. Josh Barfield's two-RBI single was the big hit.

Center fielder Shane Victorino left the game in the fifth inning after a collision in the outfield with Raul Ibanez. Both fielders were chasing a fly ball into left-center field when Victorino's face struck Ibanez's shoulder. The team announced Victorino had a left eye contusion and a sore jaw, and gave no immediate timetable for his return.

The Phillies (16-9) take the bus ride up to Dunedin on Tuesday to face the Blue Jays at 1:05 p.m. Cliff Lee will face Ricky Romero.
