Phillies re-sign Carlos Ruiz

Carlos Ruiz is re-signing with the Phillies, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets.

The 34-year-old catcher was rumored to have a $20 million, two-year deal on the table, though its source was not confirmed. The Rockies were said to be interested, but could not afford to meet demands that high. The Red Sox, and Blue Jays were also rumored to be in the mix.

Coming off a banner year in 2012 in which he hit .325 with an OPS of .935, Ruiz missed time in 2013 due to a suspension from testing positive for adderall and ended the season having played in only 92 games with a .268 average.
