Cole Hamels bounced back nicely after a rocky start to his third spring outing, and the Phillies' reserves rallied in the ninth for a 4-3 win against the Orioles at Bright House Field.

Hamels allowed two runs in four innings. After walks to Randy Winn and Brendan Harris to open the game, Hamels struck out Nolan Reimold, but gave up a run-scoring double to Jake Fox.

Josh Bell's sacrifice fly made it 2-0 Baltimore, but it also was the first of 11 in a row Hamels retired to finish his day. He struck out two.

The Phillies' offense was limited against starting pitchers Justin Duchscherer and Brian Matusz, with Ryan Howard's homer and Shane Victorino's RBI double all they could muster early. Philadelphia (6-6) rallied in the ninth however, with Carlos Rivero's single driving in pinch runner Wilson Valdez and Josh Barfield.

The comeback was necessary because Brad Lidge, pitching in the sixth inning, gave up a run-scoring double to Bell that gave the Orioles a 3-2 lead. Fellow reliever Danys Baez was sharp, however, striking out two and getting a popup in a scoreless seventh.

With general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. out of camp for the day, there was no team announcement on the status of second baseman Chase Utley.

On Wednesday, the Phillies travel to Lakeland, Fla. with a full squad to take on the Detroit Tigers. Joe Blanton is scheduled to start for the Phillies, with right-hander Rick Porcello on tap for Detroit.
