Trade the a.. h...! Snoddy- Whether he is right or not, the fact is he should take a long hard look in the mirror before he whines about the criticism. Fact is he is playing lousy this year after getting a new contract from the Phillies, the team is also playing lousy, and he needs to first ask himself if any criticism of his performance is valid. If he is honest with himself he'll agree that it it is. Then he would simply say the fans are frustrated like the team is, I've got to play better and do my part to help get this team on track, then everyone will be happy. Instead he comes across as a pouty child who doesn't always get positive reinforcement for every action. If the Phillies were playing well his complaints would be justified, but because they aren't, he needs to focus on playing ball and not what the fans are saying.
Victorino is a spark plug, but his antics tend to push the limit sometimes. What was he doing with the bat at home plate following Schnieder's HR.....he looked like he was about to ram Brian in the cohjones. Very strange. dri_as_a_bone
Vic talks like he runs the bases .. I didn't even hear him yet but he stops and spins and stalls and gets thrown out at first trying to steal. I can't believe a Bill Hicks fan is on this site. sportsdead
Wow I'm really disappointed in Victorino-one of my favorite Phillies-but is he necessarily wrong? I myself am a huge Phillies fan and have been one since long before 2007. So I've seen my fair share of poor Phillies teams. So there's no way anybody can call us the you know what word. I think fans care so much and they want the Phillies and Victorino to play to their potential. We all know that this team is much better than their record indicates. Shane-we haven't forgotten what you've done in the past. We're just frustrated that the team isn't playing the way it should be. PAJames
Bill-I completely agree with your comments. I wouldn't trade him-but I'd have Manuel sit down with him and just talk it over with him. Sheesh-sometimes I wish as a fan I could just talk to these players and just tell them what we mean when we boo and yell and such. PAJames
Comment removed.
Victorino and all pro athletes should realize that as fans we can't go on the field and play the game for our team when our teams are underachieving and one of the ways we show frustration is to boo, it happens in ALL CITIES. Play better and we won't boo problem solved. philsfan417- If he could play baseball with his mouth, he'd be the MVP this year.
- Ohhhhh! I don't want to sound anti-Amaro... but between his moves and Manuel's lack of moves, no wonder the players are stumbling around in a fog. Amazing though, Howard has made some real progress as a player and they beat up on him. But I have serious problems with C. Manuel as Manager. This is a time/place for Bowa!!! baworks
I commented in yesteray's article too. These million dollar players gripe about fans voicing their displeasure as well as their support. First, see how fun it is to lplay in front of 2,000 fans at a Baltimore or Cleveland or Pittsburgh or Florida. Oh, by the way, you won't be playing for the same money either. I feel if you want us to have lower expectations/demands, don't accept the fat contracts. And by agreeing with Rollins "frontrunner" comment of seasons back, you showed how clueless you are too. Name one city who will support their fans without criticisim or if they are losers....no one. Who wants to pay all that money to see losing baseball? Just shows that baseball players live in a dream world and have NO touch with the fan base. I am opressed. Clem
"We've been fans like since forever...since 2007" Wow. A whole three years! Victorino is right. stop2think
I agree with you Achilies except for one thing: How many games in the last month has Ibanez gotten on base -- game after game -- and no one brought him in. He has been more consistant recently than most of the other high priced players. phillytransplant
Victorino has to realize that just showing up for work doesn't count as doing a good job. joepir
I guess having at least 2 years of straight sellouts doesn't count as standing behind a team. Grow up Shane. Also nice job getting picked off first base yesterday after you almost got picked off the pitch before. unknownblogger
