Phillies Minor League Report: J.P. Crawford gets two hits for Clearwater

Here's how the Phillies' minor league teams fared on Wednesday, May 20:

Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A

The IronPIgs (15-26) were able to generate just enough offense to defeat the Syracuse Chiefs, 2-1, Wednesday at NBT Bank Stadium in Syracuse, N.Y.

Lehigh Valley starter Anthony Vasquez picked up his first win of the season. Vasquez allowed one run on three hits and struck out six batters in 5 ⅓ innings.

Cesar Jimenez earned his third save of the year by pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

First baseman Chris McGuiness went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Domonic Brown went 1-for-4 and is hitting .272 with the IronPigs.

Lehigh Valley will return home Thursday to begin a series with the Charlotte Knights at 7:05 p.m. Left hander Joely Rodriguez (1-3, 6.05 ERA) is scheduled to start for the IronPigs.

Reading Fightin Phils – Double-A

The Fightin Phils (20-18) defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 4-0, Wednesday at FirstEnergy Filed in Reading.

Aaron Nola dominated the Fisher Cats on his way to his sixth win of the season. Nola struck out seven batters in seven scoreless innings of work.

First baseman Brock Stassi went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Catcher Gabriel Lino went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Center fielder Roman Quinn went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Reading will return to action Friday when the team takes on the Portland Sea Dogs in Maine at 6 p.m. Jesse Biddle (3-1, 4.84 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Fightin Phils.

Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced

The Threshers (19-21) fell, 8-4, to the Brevard County Manatees on Wednesday at Space Coast Stadium in Melbourne, Fla.

Victor Arano was saddled with his fifth loss of the season after he allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits in 4 ⅓ innings.

Shortstop J.P. Crawford went 2-for-5 and scored two runs.

Catcher Chace Numata went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.

Clearwater will take on the Palm Beach Cardinals on Thursday at 6:35 p.m. Mark Leiter (2-0, 1.60 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Threshers.

Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A

The BlueClaws (18-20) defeated the Delmarva Shorebirds, 6-5, on Wednesday at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in Salisbury, Md.

Lakewood Starter Tyler Viza allowed 5 runs on nine hits in 5 ⅔ innings of work. Viza struck out six.

Joey DeNato pitched 1 ⅓ innings of scoreless relief and earned his first win of the season.

Center Fielder Carlos Tocci went 2-for-5 and scored two runs.

Designated hitter Damek Tomscha went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Lakewood will take on the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Thursday at 6:35 p.m. Ranfi Casimiro (1-3, 3.28 ERA) is scheduled to start for the BlueClaws.
