Phillies Minor League Report: Phillippe Aumont impressive for Lehigh Valley

Here's how the Phillies' minor league teams fared on Sunday, April 26:

Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A

The IronPigs closed out their series with Buffalo with a 3-1 win thanks to a strong start from Phillippe Aumont. He gave up just three hits and no runs in his five innings of work, giving him the win. His ERA dipped to 1.06 thanks to the outing.

Darin Mastroianni had the best day at the plate for Lehigh Valley. The leadoff hitter was 3-for-4 with a double, raising his average to .298 on the year. The three-four hitters of Dom Brown and Maikel Franco struggled once again, going a combined 0-for-7 at the plate. Brown did a record an RBI for the IronPigs. Tommy Joseph, who is batting just .171, went 1-for-3 with an RBI in the win.

Lehigh Valley starts a series with Durham on Monday. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

Reading Fightin Phils – Double-A

Gustavo Pierre hit a solo homer with two outs in the top of the ninth inning to break a 3-3 tie, and Reading held off Harrisburg in the bottom of the inning to earn a 4-3 victory.

Pierre had a monster day hitting the ball, going 2-for-3 including the game-winning bomb. Cleanup hitter Brock Stessi also hit a home run on the day and was 2-for-4 at the plate.

Tom Windle got the start for the Fightin Phils and put them in a good position to win. He went seven innings, giving up just two hits and one run, leaving with a 3-1 lead. Ethan Stewart came in for the eighth inning and gave up two runs, leading Windle with a no-decision. Stephen Shackleford entered in relief of Stewart, who did not record an out, and struck out five of the six batters he faced, earning him a win and a save.

Reading hits the road this week to start a series with Richmond, which starts Monday at 6:35 p.m.

Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced

Clearwater could not overcome a big fourth inning from Tampa, falling 3-2 on the road. Tampa scored all three of its runs off Brandon Leibrandt in the fourth inning. Leibrandt fell to 1-1 on the season after giving up three runs, two of them earned, on two hits in his six innings on the hill.

The Threshers scored their runs in the seventh and eighth inning thanks to an RBI double by Andrew Pullin and an RBI single by Aaron Brown, respectively. Clearwater managed just three hits as a team on the afternoon with Angelo Mora being the only other Thresher to get a hit.

Clearwater and Tampa continue their series on Monday at 7:00 p.m.

Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A

Lakewood got off to a slow start, and could not come back in a 3-2 loss to the Hagerstown Suns. Hagerstown scored two runs in the top of the first inning off starting pitcher Elinery Garcia and added one in the fifth to give them the victory. Garcia went five innings, giving up all three runs on four hits. He falls to 1-2 on the year.

Malquin Canelo and Tim Zier both had two hits on the day, the only BlueClaws to manage multiple base hits. They were both 2-for-4 at the plate. Lakewood had seven hits, but could only manage two runs in the loss.

The BlueClaws have their first off day of the season on Monday before traveling to Augusta on Tuesday.
