Phillies Minor League Report: Adam Morgan hammered in IronPigs' loss

Here's how the Phillies' minor league teams fared on Friday, May 29:

Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A

The IronPigs could not get past a brutal first inning, falling 7-5 to Charlotte on the road.

Adam Morgan got the start for Lehigh Valley but did not fare well. He gave up six runs on 10 hits in five innings of work. He struck out five and walked three on the night.

Three IronPigs recorded three hits apiece. Chase d'Arnaud, Brian Bogusevic and Cord Phelps all had three hits on the night, combining to score all five of the team's' runs. Domonic Brown had a two RBI double in his only hit in four plate appearances.

Lehigh and Charlotte continue their series on Sunday night at 7:05 p.m.

Reading Fightin Phils – Double-A

Ben Lively did not have his best outing of the year, giving up 10 hits in a 5-2 loss to Richmond at FirstEnergy Stadium. Lively went just five innings and gave up four runs. He struck out four and walked one on the night.

No Fightin Phils player had more than one hit on the night, the entire team only having five. The one through six hitters in the lineup went just 2-for-23 on the night, with KC Serna and Cam Perkins recording the only hits. The team managed just one extra base hit on the evening.

Reading looks to have a better offensive night when they continue their series with Richmond on Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. Highly touted prospect J.P. Crawford is expected to make his AA debut behind Aaron Nola.

Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced

The Threshers pulled off a 7-6 walk-off victory Thursday against the Fort Myers Miracle at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla.

Starter Brandon Leibrandt pitched 5 ⅓ innings, he allowed four runs on eight hits and struck out four batters.

Ulises Joaquin pitched the final 1 ⅓ innings and picked up his third win of the season.

Shortstop J.P. Crawford went 2-for-5. Crawford was promoted to Double-A Reading after the game.

Designated hitter Andrew Pullin went 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs. Center fielder Aaron Brown went 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

First baseman Willians Astudillo went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a double.

Clearwater is back in action Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at Daytona.

Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A

The BlueClaws' rally fell short Thursday night in Greensboro, N.C. Lakewood fell, 4-3, to the Grasshoppers.

Starter Elniery Garcia allowed four runs (two earned) on six hits in seven innings of work. Garcia threw 91 pitches and struck out six batters on his way to his fifth loss of the season.

First baseman Rhys Hoskins went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Hoskins has 31 RBIs this season.

Catcher Deivi Grullon went 1-for-4 and knocked in his 18th run of the year.

Lakewood is back in action Saturday at 7 p.m.
