Phillies Minor League Report: Aaron Nola picks up third win for Reading

Here's how the Phillies' minor league teams fared on Monday, May 4:

Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A

The IronPigs dropped their 20th game of the season Monday night, falling 5-3 to the Louisville Bats at Louisville Slugger Field in Louisville, Ky.

Joely Rodriguez had a rough six innings for Lehigh Valley, surrendering four runs on nine hits. Rodriguez struck out five batters on his way to his third loss of the season.

Right fielder Domonic Brown went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Third baseman Maikel Franco was 1-for-4 and is batting .308 on the season.

Lehigh Valley continues their series with Louisville on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Righty Jason Berken (1-1, 6.38 ERA) is slated to start for the IronPigs.

Reading Fightin Phils – Double-A

The Fightin Phils opened their series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats with a 5-1 victory Monday night at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading.

Aaron Nola shook off a first-inning solo home run to pick up his third win of the season. Nola pitched seven innings, allowed one run on five hits and struck out three batters.

Right fielder Aaron Altherr was 1-for-4 with a fifth-inning grand slam.

Center fielder Roman Quinn went 2-for-5 and stole his 11th base of the season. Quinn is batting .319 on the year.

The Fightin Phils continue their series with the Fisher Cats on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Left-hander Jesse Biddle (3-0, 3.38 ERA) is scheduled to start for Reading.

Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced

The Threshers fell, 6-4, to the Brevard County Manatees on Monday night at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla.

Mark Leiter pitched five solid innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out seven batters. Leiter was relieved by Miguel Nunez in the sixth inning.

Nunez allowed one run in 1 ⅓ innings of work.

Edubray Ramos came into the game in the seventh inning and was charged with his second blown save and second loss of the season after allowing one run in 1 ⅔ innings of relief.

Catcher Andrew Knapp went 2-for-5 with a run scored for Clearwater.

Third baseman Zach Green was 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored.

The Threshers take on the Manatees again Tuesday at 7 p.m. Right-hander Colin Kleven (2-1, 5.09 ERA) is set to start for Clearwater.

Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A

The BlueClaws squandered an early three-run lead Monday against the Savannah Sand Gnats, falling 6-3, at Grayson Stadium in Savannah, Ga.

Ricardo Pinto took his first loss of the season, allowing four runs on fives in five innings of work. Pinto struck out six batters in defeat.

First baseman Rhys Hoskins extended his hitting streak to 10 games, going 1-for-4 with a double.

Left fielder Cord Sandberg went 1-for-4 with an RBI double.

The BlueClaws were 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.

Lakewood is back in action Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. when the Augusta GreenJackets visit FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood Township, N.J. Lefty Josh Taylor (1-1, 3.68 ERA) is scheduled to start for the BlueClaws.
