Phillies' All-Star Batteries

Phillies' batteries in the All-Star Game.

If NL manager Tony LaRussa plays his cards correctly and has Cole Hamels and Carlos Ruiz in Tuesday's All-Star Game at the same time, it will be the fourth time in All-Star History that there would be an all-Phillies battery. (A battery, for those people under 40, is a nickname for the pitcher-catcher tandem.)

If it happens, here's hoping Hamels/Ruiz can fare a little better than two of the three previous all-Phillies batteries (both of which were products of the starting lineups).
