Phillies and Nationals postponed; will play doubleheader Sunday
The teams will play at 1:35 and 7:05 on Mother's Day.
WASHINGTON — An ominous forecast prompted a quick postponement Friday of the scheduled Phillies-Nationals series opener at Nationals Park.
The two teams will play a day-night doubleheader on Sunday, with games at 1:35 and 7:05.
Nick Pivetta will start Saturday against Tanner Roark. Jeremy Hellickson will pitch the afternoon game Sunday, with Vince Velasquez starting in the nightcap.
Both the Phillies and Nationals have a scheduled day off on Monday, but rather than burn that precious time, the teams opted for a doubleheader.
