'Momentum building' for Cole Hamels trade

UPDATE, 1:30 PM: Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reports that the Phillies and Rangers are discussing a trade for Cole Hamels, though they are not yet close.

This morning, you woke up in a world where Cole Hamels threw a no-hitter in a start close to the trade deadline. In a world like that, trade talk about the Phillies' ace is naturally going to heat up.

And it has. Even during Hamels' start yesterday, hints at an intensifying trade market were dropped as the name of a Red Sox prospect that had the Phillies' attention managed to slip into the flow of things.

Today, however, the industry is on the move. A rumor has Johnny Cueto possibly leaving the Reds for the Royals [UPDATE: This trade is now official], and talk is that a Hamels trade is not far behind.

Rosenthal's list is conspicuously missing Boston, but regardless, the hot stove is burning. For now, Hamels' next start is slated to be in Philadelphia on Thursday against the Braves; obviously, that's subject to change.
