Agree, JEngels...we didn't sign Cliff Lee, people. Old news. Get over it and move on.

I'm thinking with Roy H in the fold and Oswalt coming in, we need to go get Roy Hobbs out of retirement.

Happ's underlying numbers show he was extremely lucky last year. His long term ceiling is being another Joe Blanton, so no problems giving up Happ, there are plenty of #3/4 starters available every year. As for Lee, yeah it was a mistake. You can't go back and undo it.

If the Phillies get Oswalt and they go on to win the World Series, you'll still hear people complaining that we would have won it faster with Lee...

Keep Oswalt in Houston, he's pitching mediocre and he's one of the most overpaid arms in the NL! He's not worth the price, simple as that! If Amaro does this it's just a poor attempt to cover his a** for the Lee fiasco!

Hate to break it to you Conlin, but Philly is a one newspaper town as well (Both "independent" papers are hardly that and owned by same publisher).

It seems that RAJ is goin' for the gusto for 2010 and 2011. The Cliff Lee issue was not really about re-stocking the minor leagues. It was about longer term signability. They have Halladay/Hamels and now hopefully Oswalt for the next 2-3 years for a strong run. If they kept Lee, most likely, he would be gone this year wanting 5 years/$100+ million. Just hate to give up a good lefty/Vance Worly and Singleton to mortgage the far future.

With all of Oswalt's reluctance to be on a "bigger stage" and wanting a couple of days to okay a trade, I am not feeling very good about the deal. Who wants another Scott Rolen-type attitude? Oswalt is making BIG money. Does he want to keep treading water with also-ran Houston or is he really looking to go with a team that can win it all, much the same way that Roy Halladay did? In any case, I have my doubts.......

When questioned on WIP if it was possible that the Oswalt's reluctance to come to Philly was because of some Myers' badmouthing, Jabba replied that Myers would kill to come back. Just wondering if Dubee was the victim Jabba had in mind...
