NEW YORK — Carlos Ruiz remains out of the Phillies' lineup for the second straight game with tightness in his right hamstring.

Ruiz's absence is not surprising, since manager Charlie Manuel indicated after Monday’s 8-4 win over the New York Mets that Brian Schneider would likely start in today’s game, the second of the Phillies' three-game series at Citi Field against the Mets.

Schneider is catching, and Ty Wigginton is in the cleanup spot after his career-high 6 RBI in Monday's game.

Here is the lineup.

2. Juan Pierre, LF

3. Hunter Pence, RF

4. Ty Wigginton, 1B

5. Shane Victorino, CF

6. Placido Polanco, 3B

7. Freddy Galvis, 2B

8. Brian Schneider, C

Mayberry needs at-bats against right-handed starters during a time when he's seeing the ball better. He has been unremarkable to be sure, but after a day when he hit a homer, I think he should get to play. His hitting certainly is no worse than JRoll who is a pop-up machine (which he has always been) and an automatic out (which he has not always been).

the imbecile rube doesn't realize that one of the risks of givinp up all your money and youth for aged veterans like Howard and Halladay is that they are aged

so imbecile gives long-term deals to aging shortstop and closer (after giving expensive deals to declining former aces and former slugger) and now has no money to lock up the only bona fide star in the organization actually in his prime (Hamels)

for all those lamenting the lineups and "strategy" prepared by Forrest Gump, realize that the day after Clueless Rube is finally gone will be the day that Phils finally get a major league capable manager

I have been watching J-Roll since he was a rookie, and although he was never an ideal lead off hitter, his production lately has been just awful. Maybe he needs a few more days off?
