Brian Schneider became the 14th different Phillies player to hit the disabled list Monday. The backup catcher was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right ankle sprain suffered during a home-plate collision Sunday.

Erik Kratz was recalled from triple-A Lehigh Valley to back up Carlos Ruiz.

Schneider, 35, was hitting .232 with a .656 OPS in 26 games. He has spent time on the disabled list in each of the last four seasons. In 2010, he missed 15 days with a left ankle strain. After the injury Sunday, he said he hoped he could avoid the DL.

The 32-year-old Kratz has appeared in five games with the Phillies this season and his only hit is a home run. He has eight homers for Lehigh Valley and that leads the IronPigs.
