Here's a look at how the Phillies' minor league affiliates fared on Saturday, May 3.
Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A
Sebastian Valley hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning to carry the IronPigs past the Gwinnett Braves, 2-1, in Gwinnett, Ga.
David Buchanan recorded his fourth win of the season as he struck out six batters in six innings of work. He's unbeaten so far this year. Luis Garcia delivered the save, his fifth of the season.
Reading Fightin' Phils – Double A
Cesar Hernandez hit an inside-the-park home run and Perci Garner pitched six scoreless innings as Reading shut out the Harrisburg Senators, 5-0.
Hernandez's homer came in the third inning, and was the first run of the game. You can watch it above.
In the fifth inning, Mother Nature took the upper hand, as a storm passed through and caused a 38-minute rain delay. After play resumed, the Fightin' Phils scored four times in the sixth inning to seal the victory.
Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced
The Threshers' doubleheader at the Daytona Cubs was rained out, marking the third straight day that weather canceled games. As a result, none of the games in the weekend series were played.
Two of the three scheduled contests were postponed, to May 24 and May 25 respectively. One was canceled altogether.
Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A
Willians Astudio hit a tiebreaking three-run triple in the seventh inning that delivered Lakewood a 7-4 win over the Asheville Tourists at McCormick Field in Asheville, N.C.
BlueClaws third baseman Mitch Walding also had a big day at the plate, scoring twice and driving in another run on three hits in five at-bats.
Starting pitcher Tyler Viza allowed three runs on even hits in five innings, and reliver Kelve Rojas gave up just one hit in the remaining four innings. That hit was a home run in the bottom of the ninth, but Rojas finished off the game before the Tourists came any closer.
