Williamsport Crosscutters - Class A-Short Season
The Crosscutters blanked the Batavia Muckdogs, 1-0, at Dwyer Stadium in Batavia, N.Y.
Two pitchers combined to record a two-hitter.
Right-handed starter Julio Reyes (3-2, 3.14 ERA) earned the win after pitching six scoreless innings. He allowed only a hit while striking out nine.
Righty Josh Warner closed out the shutout in relief of Reyes. Warner allowed one hit and struck out two over three innings for his second save of the season.
The only run of the contest came in the seventh. Designated hitter Zach Green reached on a single with one out. First baseman Logan Pierce and center fielder Herlis Rodriguez were plunked in back-to-back plate appearances to load the bases with two outs. Green scored on a fielding error.
The Crosscutters could only muster four hits in the win. Right fielder Dylan Cozens (1-for-4 with two strikeouts), Green (2-for-3 with a run scored, a walk and a strikeout) and shortstop Malquin Canelo (1-for-3 with a double) provided the hits.
The win lifted the Crosscutters to 36-38. Right-hander Shane Martin (4-4, 3.56 ERA) is slated to start the season finale for Williamsport on Wednesday.
