Triple-A Lehigh Valley

The IronPigs will be sending three players to the triple-A All-Star Game on July 13 in Charlotte. Catcher Andrew Knapp, outfielder Cameron Perkins, and closer Edward Mujica will represent the Pigs. Knapp, 24, entered Friday batting .258 with a .327 on-base percentage and .402 slugging percentage. Perkins, who does not wear batting gloves, entered Friday batting .283. The 25-year-old can play all three outfield positions. The Phillies drafted him in the sixth round of the 2012 draft. Mujica, 32, leads the International League with 20 saves. He has a 3.97 ERA in 32 appearances. The righthander has struck out 24 batters and walked three in 34 innings. . . . Ben Lively received a loss on Monday for the first time in 23 starts. The righthander had not lost a game since July 11, 2015. Lively enters Saturday's start with a 3.11 ERA this season in seven starts at triple A. He joined the IronPigs in May after nine strong starts in double A.

Double-A Reading

Dylan Cozens and Rhys Hoskins continue to try to outslug each other. The pair - which Reading has deemed "The Bash Brothers" - each hit their 22nd homer of the season on Thursday night. It was the 10th time this year that Cozens and Hoskins have homered in the same game. Cozens is batting .279 in 78 games with a .363 on-base percentage and .575 slugging percentage. He entered Friday with three homers in the last week. Hoskins entered Friday batting .290 with a .352 on-base percentage and a .576 slugging percentage. Of their combined 44 homers, 33 have come at Reading's hitter-friendly FirstEnergy Stadium. . . . Cozens and Hoskins will be joined at the Eastern League All-Star Game on July 13 by catcher Jorge Alfaro, infielder Jesmuel Valentin, righthanded starter Nick Pivetta, and lefthanded reliever Hoby Milner. Valentin, the son of former major league infielder Jose Valentin, is batting .288 with a .356 on-base percentage in his first season at double A. The Phillies acquired him in 2014 from the Dodgers as part of a trade that sent Roberto Hernandez to Los Angeles. Pivetta was removed from his last start after just three innings. He is day-to-day with groin tightness.

High-A Clearwater

Matt Hockenberry, the ace of the final Temple University baseball team, is enjoying a strong season pitching a variety of roles. The Phillies have twice pulled Hockenberry to double A for one-game stints when the Fightin Phils needed bullpen help. He has a 1.41 ERA in 22 games. The righthanded reliever has struck out 30 batters and walked 13 in 32 innings. The 24-year-old worked as a closer last season in Lakewood, but is being used this season in the seventh and eighth innings. Hockenberry has allowed one run in his last 10 outings. He has a chance to spend the second half of the season with Reading, and not just for a one-game stint. . . . Jiandido Tromp homered on Thursday night to end his first week with the Threshers. The outfielder has five hits in his first six games. Four of those hits have been for extra bases. He can play all three outfield positions. Tromp batted .274 with 10 homers and a .506 slugging percentage at Lakewood. If he makes the majors, he would be just the second Aruban born player to play for the Phillies. Calvin Mauro played 20 games with the Phillies in 1996 and 1997.

Single-A Lakewood

Alberto Tirado, a hard-throwing righthander acquired last July from Toronto as part of the Ben Revere trade, continues to struggle with command. Tirado, 21, has walked 21 batters this season in 14 1/3 innings. He has walked 12 batters in his last seven innings. Tirado, normally a reliever, made a spot start on Tuesday. He lasted three innings and walked four batters. Jimmy Cordero, who was acquired with Tirado, has not pitched this season because of a shoulder injury. The Phillies hope to have him return to action by the middle of July. . . . Jose Pujols homered on Sunday for the 14th time this season. The rightfielder entered Friday batting .237 but has a .442 slugging percentage and a .725 OPS. He has hit for extra bases on 27 of his 66 hits.

Short-season A Williamsport

Adonis Medina carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning on Monday night. The 19-year-old righthanded allowed his first hit with one out in the ninth inning. He finished with four strikeouts and one walk in 8 1/3 innings. The 19-year-old righthander has not allowed a run in his first three outings. He has nine strikeouts, six walks, and six hits in his first 21 innings. Medina, who is from the Dominican Republic, spent last season in the Gulf Coast League. . . . Luke Williams, who the Phillies drafted in the third round of last year's draft, entered Friday with a hit in 11 of his first 13 games above the Gulf Coast League. The third baseman batted .288 last season in 38 games with the Gulf Coast Phillies.
