Larry Lucchino is stepping down this year as the president and CEO of the Boston Red Sox.

Team spokesman Kevin Gregg said in an e-mail that Lucchino hopes to remain with the club in some capacity. Gregg also said Sam Kennedy, the executive vice president and COO of the Red Sox, is Lucchino's choice to take over as president.

Lucchino, who turns 70 next year, was part of the ownership group that purchased the Red Sox in 2002. He has helped Boston to three World Series titles in his time with the team.

Former Phillie Sizemore back in bigs

The Tampa Bay Rays recalled outfielder Grady Sizemore from triple-A Durham for Saturday's game against the Red Sox. To make room, they optioned outfielder Mikie Mahtook to Durham.

The 32-year-old Sizemore played in 15 games with the Rays before being demoted, hitting .235 with two home runs and seven RBIs.
