Mo'ne Davis entered Friday's game to considerable hype.

Her dominant performance on the pitcher's mound justified the attention.

After firing a shutout, Davis was the talk of Twitter Friday afternoon. Her name was trending on the site in Philadelphia, and one social media tracking site, TwazzUp, said Friday night that more than 4,000 tweets per hour mentioned her.

The Phillies, who changed their Twitter logo to that of the Taney Dragons, wrote "Mo'ne Davis was dealing on the mound again today! Wow!"

Mike Trout, the star outfielder for the Los Angeles Angels, wrote that Davis was "straight dominating . . . fun to watch !!!"

Last year's National League most valuable player, Andrew McCutchen of the Pittsburgh Pirates, gave Mo'ne a shout-out and said he was "rooting for you guys over here!"

Kevin Durant, the NBA's reigning most valuable player, wrote, "This youngster is striking everybody out and she is a girl. I love it."

Former Phillies manager Charlie Manuel weighed in with "how about that!"

And according to a tweet from an ESPN reporter, David Ortiz, the Boston Red Sox, said, "She throws serious cheese. She can pitch."
