Minor Leagues: Lehigh Valley rally falls short in ninth

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Pete Orr hit a two-run homer in the ninth, but the Lehigh Valley IronPigs' rally died there as they fell to the Charlotte Knights, 6-4, Saturday night in an International League contest at Coca-Cola Park.

Rich Thompson was 3 for 4 at the plate for the IronPigs, but John Mayberry Jr. and Cody Overbeck were a combined 0 for 9 with seven strikeouts.

 AKRON, Ohio - Juan Diaz's bases-loaded single in the bottom of the 10th scored Juan Apodaca with the winning run as the Aeros edged the R-Phils in the Eastern League.

Michael Spidale went 3 for 3 with a run batted in and Tuffy Gosewisch was 2 for 5 for Reading.

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Deangelo Mack had a home run and three RBIs to lead an 11-hit Trenton attack as the Thunder pounded the Rock Cats in an Eastern League game.
