Minor Leagues: IronPigs top Braves; Reading Phils prevail

GWINNETT, Ga. - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs kept a hold on first place in the North Division of the International League with a 12-2 victory over the Gwinnett Braves on Monday night.

Drew Carpenter (4-0) picked up the win in relief. IronPigs first baseman Jeff Larish drove in seven runs, going 3 for 4 with a triple and two homers.

Reading 7, Erie 4

ERIE - Michael Spidale had a pair of hits, including a double, as the Phillies beat the SeaWolves in the Eastern League. Reading scored five runs in the first inning.

Trenton 6, Portland 4

PORTLAND, Maine - The Thunder used a four-run seventh inning to defeat the Sea Dogs in an Eastern League game. Fernando Hernandez (5-2) earned the win in relief of Dellin Betances, tossing one inning of no-hit ball.

Lakewood 3, Delmarva 2

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The BlueClaws won their fifth straight game as starter Garrett Claypool didn't allow a run by the Shorebirds in seven innings. Jim Murphy rapped a two-out RBI single to put Lakewood up by 3-2 in the eighth.
