TONIGHT'S PITCHERS

Phillies RHP Roy Oswalt (13-13, 2.80) vs. Nationals RHP Jason Marquis (2-9, 7.18)

WHO'S HOT

Roy Oswalt: The veteran righthander has allowed one earned run and 11 hits in 22 innings over his last three starts. The Phillies have won each of his last 10 starts. During that stretch he is 7-0 with a 1.40 ERA.

WHO'S NOT

Ryan Howard: The slugger has not had a multiple hit game since Sept. 10. Heading into last night, he was 11-for-46 (.239) in his last 14 games, although he had drawn 15 walks during that stretch.

THREE MATCHUPS TO WATCH

Oswalt vs. Nationals: He has faced them three times as a Phillie. The first start came the day after Houston traded him and he allowed five runs in six innings. But in the last two, he has held the Nats to one run in 13 innings.

Phillies vs. Jason Marquis: The last time they faced the sinkerballer, they knocked him out of the game with one out in the first inning after scoring six runs. Marquis bounced back in his next start, holding the Astros to two runs in six innings.

Nationals vs. Jimmy Rollins: The Phillies shortstop is expected to make his return to the lineup today. The only question: Will any other starters be joining him?
