The sixth class of the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame will be inducted tonight, a group that includes home-raised athletes, some who played for local teams, and sports media.

Among the 14 individuals being inducted at the Hyatt Regency Penn's Landing are former Eagle Pete Retzlaff, ex-Phillie Larry Bowa, NFL Hall-of-Famer Emlen Tunnell, and boxer Joey Giardello.

From the media world, Philadelphia Daily News sports columnist Bill Conlin and Eagles play-by-play announcer Merrill Reese are being honored. Also being inducted are the two-time Stanley Cup champion Flyers (1974-75).

The only credible thing Conlin has ever done is bring on urination by my dog when he sees that fat chin of his in the newspaper on the floor. My dogs face smiles and promptly raises his leg to relieve himself all over that jaw of his that hasn't turned down a buffet of food since he was born.

If Conlin is in, there goes the credibility. He must have pictures on someone at PNI.

Nickpa1, the 1973-75 Flyers are being inducted AS A TEAM, smart guy! This is why the player names aren't listed. (That, and the space unnecessarily taken up by 25 or so names.)

It never fails; any column that Bill writes, or anything printed about him, the same idiots are first in line to diss him. Why? Because that is what idiots do.

The only good thing about Lasorda is that his heritage begins in Abbuzzi, the same as my heritage.
