Portland tops Thunder with 4-run 6th

PORTLAND, Maine - Portland scored four runs in the sixth inning en route to a 5-3 win over the Trenton Thunder last night in the Eastern League.

Trenton's loss, coupled with New Britain's win over Reading, dropped the Thunder two games behind New Britain for second place in the Northern Division with five games remaining in the regular season.

New Britain 11, Reading 6

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Whitney Robbins was 3 for 4 with a double and four RBIs as the Rock Cats stayed in the EL North playoff race.

Reading is one game ahead of Erie for the second and final spot in the Southern Division race.

Syracuse 2, Lehigh Valley 1

ALLENTOWN - Ian Desmond's RBI single in the sixth - his second of the game - gave the Chiefs the International League win.
