READING - Joe Savery improved to 11-1 last night as the Reading Phillies topped the Connecticut Defenders, 7-5, in the Eastern League.

Reading never trailed after jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning, when Jeremy Slayden, Ozzie Chavez, and Quintin Berry each hit RBI singles.

Camden 10, Newark 6

Brett Bonvechio's two-run homer completed a six-run rally in the bottom of the third inning that helped the Riversharks beat the Bears in an Atlantic League game at Campbell's Field in Camden.

Lakewood postponed

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Last night's game between the West Virginia Power and the BlueClaws was postponed because of rain.

The game will be made up today as part of a doubleheader starting at 5:05 p.m.
