Shea it ain’t so ... Rollins was late to ballpark

Phillies shortstop and 2007 NL MVP Jimmy Rollins was scratched from today's lineup against the Mets because he was late getting to the ballpark. Rollins arrived only an hour before game time because he was stuck in traffic.

Manager Charlie Manuel said he talked with Rollins about it, but offered no further details.

Rollins was pulled earlier this season from a game for not hustling.

Rollins made the last out of the game when, as a pinch hitter, grounded out to third base in the 3-1 loss to the Mets, who moved a game ahead of the Phillies in first place in the NL East.

Carlos Delgado hit a two-run double in the eighth inning off reliever J. C. Romero to put the Mets ahead for good. Mets starter Oliver Perez struck out 12 in 72/3 innings, and Billy Wagner got his second save in two days.

Eric Bruntlett, subbing for Rollins, had three hits.

A fishing boat rocked against a dock yesterday at Dr. Thomas W. McFarland's scenic Shore home. But the Wynnewood dentist apparently has been doing more than jigging for flounder.

His home was searched in connection with dumping of medical debris, which has been discovered along Jersey Shore towns.
