Tickets remain to see Phils at Citizens Bank Park, Coors Field
Just be prepared to pay more than fans at a majority of the other seven participating cities.
StubHub was reporting late yesterday afternoon that the average price of tickets being purchased for the three home games in Philly was $280. That figure sits only behind the average prices to see the Cubs ($327) and Red Sox ($316). Seats being bought at the TicketsNow site were going on average for $293, lower only than what tickets were selling for games at Chicago's Wrigley Field.
Jennifer Swanson, marketing and communications director for TicketsNow, said that the price of tickets for games here ranged from $81 to $856, with one person paying $1,600 for a seat. In Chicago, one person had forked down $22,000 for a suite at Wrigley. Now that's making a day of it.
Inventory at StubHub for Cubs tickets was reportedly in the thousands, according to PR director Sean Pate. By comparison, he said about 500 remained for the games at Citizens Bank Park. "It's a good number, but it's not the kind that's going to keep prices, the competition, extremely hot," Pate said. "You're still somewhat in a seller's market."
He said he expected tickets for today's game to still be available this morning. "A good time to shop, if you're really trying to find that bargain," Pate said, "is Tuesday night, Wednesday morning. We'll have tickets up until the first pitch."
Pate noted that "anyone who has frequent-flyer miles, they'll find a nice sweet deal in Denver." Tickets for Games 3 and 4 at Coors Field, which seats just over 50,000, were selling for an average price of $91. Just bring the woollies. Temperatures for Saturday and Sunday night there are forecast for the low 40s. *
